Happy Birthday America
We Are Grateful
I've never been more grateful to be an American than I am today—not because I've seen less of the world, but because I've seen more of it.

As an Army veteran, I've always loved this country. Long before I ever held a passport, I understood that the freedoms we enjoy didn't simply appear. They were secured and preserved by generations willing to sacrifice for something greater than themselves.
Patriotism isn't believing your country has never made mistakes.
It's honoring what previous generations sacrificed to build, recognizing the work still left to do, and doing your part to leave it better than you found it.
Maybe that's what remembrance is meant to do.
Not simply make us look backward with gratitude...
but forward with responsibility.
So today, as America celebrates 250 years,
I'm grateful.
Grateful for the opportunities this country has given me.
Grateful for those who came before me.
Grateful that I had the privilege to wear her uniform.
And grateful that after every adventure we've taken, the place I still get to call home is the United States of America.
Because some places aren't just meant to impress us.
They're meant to remind us.
Happy 250th Birthday, America.
Adventure, on Purpose.

Today, America celebrates her 250th birthday.
Over the past few years, Christina and I have been blessed with opportunities to see parts of the world we once only dreamed about.
We've certainly enjoyed the beautiful places—the canals of Venice, the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, the beaches of the Caribbean.
But some of the places that have stayed with us the longest weren't the most beautiful.
They were places of remembrance.
We've been to Pearl Harbor.
We've stood on the beaches of Normandy and walked among the endless white headstones at the Normandy American Cemetery.
Those weren't places we visited because they were famous.
We went because they’re places that help us remember.
Those places don't ask for applause.
They don't demand speeches.
They simply ask us to remember.
And to be worthy of the sacrifices they represent.
