St. Kitts

There's No Photo of The Best Part

A dolphin encounter in St. Kitts turned into one of the most exhilarating experiences we’ve ever had. No polished photos. Just 45 unforgettable minutes in the water.

There’s no photo of the best part of this.

Just a wristband that says Ultimate Encounter.

And honestly? That’s enough.

But in St. Kitts, we spent 45 minutes in the water with dolphins — and I wouldn’t trade that memory for anything.

We were gathered from the waiting area and taken straight into the pool with about a dozen other people. The education happened right there in the water.

Hand signals. Eye contact. Instructions.

Before this, I had only ever seen dolphins from a boat — or from the stands at SeaWorld.

That’s impressive.

But it’s different when they’re swimming inches away from you. When they brush up against your leg. When you feel the strength under their skin. When they look at you like they’re studying you just as much as you’re studying them.

It stops being a show.

It becomes an experience.

We learned the signals to make them spin. Splash. “Dance.” And they responded instantly — precise, powerful, completely aware.

Then came the bigger moments.

We held onto their dorsal fins and rode across the pool. The speed surprised me. Smooth — but strong. You could feel the power just beneath the surface.

And all the while, you’re watching other groups take their turn at the big one.

The Superman launch.

You see them float face down.
You see the dolphins line up behind them.
You see them explode out of the water.

You know exactly what’s coming.

Your heart still pounds anyway.

When it was our turn, we swam out and floated on our stomachs. Two dolphins positioned themselves behind me — one on each foot.

One of them hit my right foot in a pretty sensitive spot — and before I had time to say “ouch,” I was airborne.

Straight up. Arms forward. Water everywhere.

Superman.

I may or may not have limped for about an hour after we got back to the ship.

Worth it.

I remember climbing out of the water with one of the biggest smiles I can remember. Christina had the same look on her face.

It wasn’t graceful. It wasn’t polished.

It was exhilarating.

Forty-five minutes in the water.
No photo of the best part.
Zero regrets.

10/10 would fly again.

Some experiences don’t need photos.
They just need to be lived.
